What matters to us at A Step Ahead Child Care & Education Center is simple: Your child. We provide strong social and educational foundations that prepare your child for success in elementary school and beyond. Our schools and classrooms are designed to give children room to grow, share, and to be themselves. Here, children work together, have constructive fun together, and discover how enjoyable learning can be all in a safe environment.
Our goals are:
We are closely following guidance from the CDC, as well as state and local officials and health authorities, as we take extreme care to maintain our safe, healthy school environment for children, families, and staff. We have enhanced our already rigorous health protocols, such as:
From the moment babies are born, they begin to actively learn. They start to gather information about the world around them using their five senses. Baby brain development studies have found that an infant’s brain doubles in size during the first year of life and that synapses are created at a faster rate during the first three years than any other period in a person’s life. The infant environment is set up around the needs of your infant. We provide loving, nurturing care for your baby in a clean and safe environment. Each space includes books and items that encourage self discovery. The infant environment is structured with a sleeping area, gross motor/movement area, eating area, changing area and active time area.
It is during the toddler years that most children’s language skills blossom. Singing songs, reading stories and simply talking about what you are doing together will help a child learn new words. In addition to an expanding vocabulary, toddlers are learning all sorts of things about the world around them through hands-on exploration and active play. Our resources are designed to facilitate a loving and nurturing learning environment in which toddlers can discover and grow. Our schools include outdoor play spaces that children enjoy daily.
Most 2-year-olds are on the move and have lots of energy to spare! They are curious, craving a sense of independence, and increasing their awareness of themselves and their emotions. Our active classroom environment engages bodies, hands, minds, and imaginations with opportunities to explore and discover new experiences all in a safe, interactive environment.
Using open-ended explorations and guided play, our program support children's natural need to play and opens up a world of discovery. The environment is set up to learn life skills for the best start possible. The areas of the classroom: fine/gross motor, practical life, art & sensorial, social & language, and music were selected to best prepare your child for a lifelong love of learning. Our schools include outdoor play spaces that children enjoy daily. At this age we begin to qualitatively observe each child’s progress towards preparation for Kindergarten across core areas of numbers, counting, letters, word recognition, writing, shapes and patterns. These observations are recorded and shared with parents at various points throughout the school year.
Supporting our local communities means not just preparing young children to be ready for elementary school, but also to be there to help them keep on track as they become school-age students. Structured and supervised, our teachers have been trained to assist and support Bellevue, Millard, Louisville and Springfield distance learning so your child stays on course with their studies, all while enjoying healthy snacks to keep them energized and fuel their brain power.
A Step Ahead provides a loving, welcoming environment for our children to learn, grow and discover themselves. The staff embrace the children and strive to meet the needs of each child to maximize their potential. We appreciate the open communication and organization of the director so we know what is occurring each week and so we can carry-out the teaching at home. Our children look forward to going to school each day, and we have confidence to know they are in good hands.
